2010 Vision (Part 1)

Happy New Year!  We’re only half way through January but God is on the move!  One of the things I’m most excited to see is how the Word of God has already impacted so many people’s lives.  I’ve heard many stories of challenges people are going through.  Now, however, I also hear how God is strengthening and encouraging them through those challenges as they read the Word.   If you haven’t heard about the reading plan we’re going through as a church, please go here and consider joining in as we read through the Bible together as a church (if you do jump in, just start your reading at today’s date, don’t worry about the readings you’ve already missed).

I’ve also been greatly encouraged at how God has led and moved a number of people to step out in faith and believe God to Read more »

Bible in a Year

One of the ways God is leading SRM Kona is to read through the Bible from beginning to end in 2010.  If you’ve never done it before, this is the perfect opportunity to join with others and hear what God has to say to us individually and as a body.  For those of us who have done this before, God has even greater riches and treasures for us to discover to help us grow in our relationship with Him and in our effectiveness in bringing light and life to the world around us.   The writer of Hebrews notes, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, New King James Version)  As we read God’s Word together, we give Him an opportunity to speak to us, to work and move in our lives, and to allow Him to show us how to line up our thoughts, perspectives, and mindsets with His (and experience all the blessings and joy that comes with doing that!). Start 2010 with a Faith Promise!

Do you want to be involved in spreading the Gospel all over the world?  I believe that all Christians want to do just that.  Some are called to go.  These are missionaries.  They go to places that have not heard about the Good News of Jesus and proclaim who Jesus is.  Not only that, they make disciples, followers, in those nations.  However, the ones that don’t go have the opportunity to participate by supporting missionaries with prayer and finances.  Romans 10:15 tells us that those proclaiming the Gospel can’t go unless they are sent.  So both the ones going and the ones supporting are important to reach the lost.

Here’s where making a Faith Promise comes in.  Read more »

Christmas Eve Service

Wow, can you believe it?  Christmas is right around the corner and we are going to have a great Christmas Eve here at SRM!  Christmas music starts off the evening at 6PM followed by a 6:30 service.  With the theme, “The Power of One”, we will be a part of an evening of praise and worship, special music, “The Plague” production and our annual Christmas Candlelight Ceremony. There is something planned for the entire family to enjoy, you know from one to ninety-two.

In addition, we are asking everyone to bring their favorite dessert to share after the service in the foyer.  What a fun-filled way to put on some extra pounds. (just joking). Of course the early bird catches the best seats in the house.  So pack up the kids, if you have some, bring your friends and join us as we celebrate Jesus’ birth!  Oh yeah, as a reminder, there is no Wednesday evening service this week, the 23rd, however, if you are involved in our Christmas Eve service, there is a rehearsal Wednesday night at 6PM.

I think that’s it, see you Christmas Eve!

E Pule Kakou

How many of you believe God answers prayer?  I’m sure all of you do.  That’s why we are excited to participate in E Pule Kakou. What’s that you ask?

E Pule Kakou is a time when all Christians in the state of Hawaii gather at home, in the workplace and in churches to pray for our great state. We pray for our government, our schools, our economy and our families. This year our prayer gathering will be held Sunday evening, November 29th at 6PM.  We will be declaring God’s will over our land.

Let me also encourage you to pray with your families this Thanksgiving as you gather together to thank God for everything He has done.  God is good all the time!

To find out more about E Pule Kakou and what is happening statewide, log on to www.epulekakou.com
