Furlough Fridays Survey

The recent agreement between the HSTA and DOE here in Hawaii solved one problem while opening up several others.  One of the issues that parents are scrambling to resolve is what to do with their children on the newly agreed upon furloughs for the rest of this school year.  Parents must figure out what to do with their child(ren) for the 17 Fridays (starting on October 23)  for which classes have been canceled.

While we may not be able to do anything to alleviate the situation, we, as a church, would like to at least explore the possibility of providing some sort of a program for those “Furlough Fridays”.  The first step is to see what the need would be.  In order to do this, we would like to invite you to take part in a survey that would help us to assess the need in our church.

At this point, we would like to restrict the survey only to those who meet all of the following:

  1. Regularly attend SRM Kona and call SRM Kona their home church
  2. Have a child or children they are responsible for AND who live in their household AND who attend public school
  3. Don’t have a responsible adult at home on the furlough days to watch their child(ren)

If you meet ALL of the above, would you take a few minutes to fill out this survey?  We’ll keep you posted as we explore this possibility in more depth.
