Two Events Coming: Rocktoberfest and Candyland

Rocktoberfest and Candyland are happening the last weekend of October.  Rocktoberfest is our youth alternative for halloween.  It takes place on Friday, October 30th at the church.  There are a costume contest, a No Talent Talent Show, refreshments and a message that will inspire the youth to live for Jesus.

Candyland is our annual outreach to the children of Kona taking place at the Old Airport Football Field on Saturday, October 31st.  This year it going to be off the hook with games, jumpers, costumes, and of course, the Candyland maze.

So why do we do these events?  Two reasons.  First of all, it gives us an opportunity to give something to the community that they can enjoy.  Everything at our events are free and nowadays, free is good. The second reason is more important.  It gives us an opportunity to build relationships with the Kona community.  We are part of this great city, however, sometimes we can lose contact with it if all we do is stay in church.  So we go out to where the people are and meet them, love on them and build some relationships with them.

Now I know you might be saying, how can we build relationships in one event?  Every relationship has to start somewhere.  These outreaches are a good start. And….we also will see people who we already know and be able to strengthen existing relationships.  Wow, it’s a win win situation.

So if you haven’t signed up to help at Candyland yet, you can do so in the foyer.  To help with Rocktoberfest see Koa or one of the youth leaders, or inquire at the 411 Center. By the way, candy and hot dogs are also needed for Candyland and you can let Nolan’s team know what you can give to help.

Let’s get ready to be a blessing to Kona again.  It’s the greatest feeling and most fun!
